Basically like a who’s who and history lesson on new and old Chicago artists. Not every single jam on here is a 100% certified banger but it’s filled with enough of them that this is definitely worth checking out.
“Here we go: it’s the official release of The Hood Internet vs Chicago. We’ve got 23 completely new jams for you, 24 if you count the intro. Some of the artists on here have been in Chicago for a minute, some are relatively recent transplants, and some have even moved away — but at one point or another, they called Chicago home. And yes, there are a few cameos from some non-Chicagoans, but seeing as they were already part of the track(s) in question, they’re like friends of friends, you know?”
I’m late on this… but honestly I’ve been up on Caps & Jones forever. They were supposed to be the next main feature in our DJ’s We Like Series but I stopped doing those…….. Anyways, at least this is in time for the end of summer. I’ll hook you up with more by them the next time I’m behind a computer screen.
[EDIT:] Actually just listened to this for the first time and I feel like I’m a little kid about to watch Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on beta max or something. I guess I forgot to mention they play a wide range of shit. I’ll post some that include a lot of hip hop later too. Download some hood internet (Via Booooooom.com) to hold you over until then.
Recently done for BBC’s “Essential Mix” series. Features A-Trak’s Bounce remix which I’d separately rip but theres a hell of a tag on it. I think it starts to get good around 40 mins in so if you aren’t feeling it try skipping there.
