To follow up my two previous posts (i.e. not including Oren’s posts) here’s a trailer for Strange Brew (with a bunch of Vancouver footage) followed by streaming audio and a download link for Dom Kennedy’s “Watermelon Sundae” …
Seriously, just click play and listen for a sec. If you honestly don’t like what you hear I don’t know what era of hip hop you identify with but it’s probably not that great. I might post some other lesser known joints out of Leimert Park in the near future depending on your response to this one—key word: response. Also included a link to his mixtape below…
Song is called “The Teaser”… it leaked a few years ago and has been highly blogged since but its pretty fresh so here we are.
“Apparently, “Teaser” was recorded back in 2005 for Deep Throat vs. Lialeh, an album that was to feature artists conducting a “musical-type battle” between the 1974 porn flick Deep Throat and the first major black porn film, Lialeh. ”
Kind of sounds like the illest idea for an album in the history of music… but I’m pretty sure it never came out. As Jesse pointed out, Kool Keith dresses up like Elvis and Karen O rolls around on grapes during shows… their both crazy so it only makes sense they did a track together.
Here’s the video for Black Milk’s single off of ‘Tronic’, which just dropped at the end of October. Dude is ill. Give this a listen, keep in mind it’s the single, and go buy the album.
A self-explanatory new addition to the LAF, this series of posts will feature a selection of music and show how they’re interconnected. You’ve probably seen the kid in the second video on youtube before—South Park even had an episode featuring “Youtube Legends” and he was in it. The song he’s lip-syncing to is a song by these guys from Romania in the first video (O-Zone), that in turn was used as the catch for ‘Live Your Life,’ the new single from T.I. and Rhianna.
Today, two things that were inevitable have come to pass. Firstly, the legendary athletic brand, Starter, has returned. That’s right, you no longer have to search ebay, old mom and pops shops, or vintage stores to find it. (The Hundreds also released some ill snap-backs this weekend so check those after the jump and at your nearest spot.) And secondly, Cudi and Consequence peaced it. No surprise there and it even seems like he listened to Consequence’s fashion tips and toned his look down…
More info on the Cons/Cudi drama, and what to look for from Starter and The Hundreds, in stores now, after the jump…
Here’s some vocoder sh*t by Kool Keith—anything to end that Kid Cudi-related-post streak. The chorus or whatever near the end of the song is hilarious. Also features classic lines like “Girl, you know what to do, I ain’t Mr. Magoo…”
