SOTD: KOOL KEITH & KAREN O

November 17th, 2008

Song is called “The Teaser”… it leaked a few years ago and has been highly blogged since but its pretty fresh so here we are.

Apparently, “Teaser” was recorded back in 2005 for Deep Throat vs. Lialeh, an album that was to feature artists conducting a “musical-type battle” between the 1974 porn flick Deep Throat and the first major black porn film, Lialeh.

Kind of sounds like the illest idea for an album in the history of music… but I’m pretty sure it never came out. As Jesse pointed out, Kool Keith dresses up like Elvis and Karen O rolls around on grapes during shows… their both crazy so it only makes sense they did a track together.

SOTD: FLASHING LIGHTS F. THE CLIPSE

November 11th, 2008

Flashing Lights was one of the songs that made me change my mind about Kanye. To be honest I was never a big fan… but I always agreed he could make beats. And holy fuck what a beat. The string/synth combo on this is undeniable and Dwele I’ve liked since Tainted with Slum Village. This is a blend put together by DJ Benzi, who probably realized The Clipse were made to get on this track. I also threw the Mano remix up in case you’ve heard the Clipse version which has been around for awhile.

A SUITABLE SOTD

October 21st, 2008

Oh sh*t I did not even know this song had a video! One of the best backpacker jams ever for sure! Okay, maybe I just personally like a lot of laid back moody hip hop—it’s at least one of the best jams ever that is at all shoe related though (what else is there? nike head by lexicon…) .. Know about it.

Why is it a fitting song of the day? Check the previous post

CUNNIN LYNGUISTS: DANCE FOR ME

Honestly not the best song in the world (I just noticed I say this about a lot of my SOTD choices..weird) but the verses are really good. Listening to it would not be a complete waste of your time if you haven’t heard it.. trust me. Also, for some reason I just really like posts composed of songs and photos that perfectly match each other.

SOTD: BAY AREA CLASSICS

September 29th, 2008

Here’s a couple of Bay Area classics for songs of the.. night. Believe me, more people nowadays would know about RBL Posse if Mr. Cee didn’t get killed so soon after they signed with Atlantic. R.I.P. Kyle Church aka. Mr. Cee.

RBL POSSE: DON’T GIVE ME NO BAMMER

Whatchu’ know about slurricaine? Hopefully a lot. If not, check it out after the jump. If so, you know it’s hard as hell so take a couple minutes out of your day and re-discover it.
